HSUS board member Cathy Kangas recently penned a powerful critique of trophy hunting for HuffPost. In the piece, Kangas lays out a concise, point-by-point indictment of trophy hunting. She underscores its barbarity as a pursuit that no ethical sportsman would condone, let alone practice.
Ms. Kangas uses data and facts to debunk the long-held defense of trophy hunting to the effect that it conveys benefits to the economies of poor African nations that play host to it.
Kangas also pulls back the cloak from Safari Club International, which hides behind a façade of conservation while brazenly promoting big-ticket trophy hunting excursions to Africa where its members indulge in the killing of endangered animals in unsporting ways.
